In a release that is expected to have nearly 200 new or improved features, it is always a tough ask to select a few. I have gone ahead and reviewed some of the new features that have caught my fancy. Below is my list of hot features in the Spring ’17 release!
Highlights of The Salesforce Spring Release 2017
Salesforce Einstein is Artificial Intelligence built on SF platform, which delivers advanced AI capabilities to Sales, Service and Marketing Cloud. With Sales Cloud Einstein, your team’s sales productivity is supercharged with key predictions, intelligent recommendations, and timely automation. You can deliver high-impact Lightning Experience features that keep sales teams laser-focused on the leads and deals that are most likely to generate sales.
Enhanced Lighting App with Utility Bar:
Does the utility bar sound familiar? That’s because it combines the best features from home page components in Salesforce Classic and the footer in Salesforce Classic console apps. Salesforce Spring Release 2017 makes it easy for you to select which Lightning components you want to add to a utility bar and specify their properties. You can specify how big the utility panel is and what label and icon you want to display in the utility bar. To add a utility bar to your Lightning app, edit the app from the App Manager page in Setup.
Smart Search Tool gets you right results:
Increasingly flexible search capabilities get you where you need to go in salesforce, fast. Customize the search option with specific objects you want to look into, and search the contact using account name. Get search results from more new objects like Events, Quotes, and Tasks. (Some features are available for both lightening and classic)
Integration with Mails:
Expanding the on-the-go feature, salesforce integrates with Google (Beta) to give sales team direct access to Salesforce data right where they work. With Einstein AI analysis, the sales team receives the decision-driven data in Lighting for Gmail. Using Lightning Sync with Google Calendar™, your sales team can see which prospects, customers, and colleagues are attending their meetings directly from Salesforce.
New look and feel of Chatter:
One other important feature of Salesforce Spring Release 2017 is that users will feel the freshly redesigned chatter homepage in Lighting Experience, which gives you more customization. You can combine posts from different feeds and feed types into Chatter Stream (This new feature is in Lighting Experience).
More features for lightning apps:
In Salesforce Spring Release 2017, you can witness more features and functionality available for lighting apps, like editing the person account, lighting pages with more new templates, customize related list how to display in pages, assign record pages by App, Record Types and profiles, customize highlights panels with more action buttons, and access encrypted fields from Process builder.
Field Service for lightning iOS:
All-in-one field service solution in the Salesforce Spring Release 2017 empowers technicians to prominently display key fields with layouts, provides Users with quick actions, provides SF knowledge articles to technicians, Brand the app with company colors, communicate with partners and customers using Chatters.
Enhanced Reports and Wave Analytics:
Lightning Experience gets even better with report subscriptions, better Chatter integration for dashboards, new funnel and scatter charts and other enhancements. The new Wave home brings personalized analytics to you with pinned apps and notifications. Create custom navigation within apps, and annotate dashboards in presentation mode. With Salesforce Spring Release 2017, enjoy the many enhancements to creating Wave assets, like bubble charts, pivot tables, and connected datasets, plus new features for trend in Wave, like scheduling.
Salesforce Authentication and Security:
Salesforce introduced additional verification requirements for users and admins, and new OAuth flows that provide the identity for connected devices in the Internet of Things.
