As a marketing person, I’ve been fascinated by the developments happening in the Artificial Intelligence domain and how AI is going to impact marketing. While I am still grappling with the live chats and robotic chatting apps as a marketing tool, there are already conversations across the business community on the advent of bots and how machines, especially machines that learn, are going to make their presence felt in the marketing and sales domain. Marketing conversations with a prospect now typically happening via screens and keyboard may soon become human-bot conversations. With the ability to analyze data in a fraction of a second, bots will be more equipped to profile and score a lead and even assign them to a specific salesperson based on available data. Absolutely fascinating!!
With IBM Watson and Salesforce Einstein leading the way, I feel 2017-18 is going to be a path-breaking period for Marketing including Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Being a Salesforce man myself, I am betting heavy on Salesforce Einstein to lead the way!
Talking of Salesforce Einstein, I happened to read this interesting article in the Salesforce pages where the discussion is on how AI will deliver many opportunities and challenges to marketers. The connection between marketing and AI, and how marketers can leverage AI to stay ahead.
1. Intelligent automation for more powerful insights: With consumers demanding more personalized experience, AI technologies can mine large sets of data and derive actionable insights for marketers to leverage.
2. Augmentation, not replacement, of workers: In spite of the advent of AI, human work force would still be required to focus their time and energy on other relevant duties that involve creativity and judgment.
3. Diffusion of innovative capabilities to more people and industries: As AI technologies become more accessible to industries and customers, people have started accepting it and are ready to work with it. What this means is, as AI continues to go mainstream, more industries will have the potential to grow and innovate further.
As I try to comprehend and digest the advent of AI and bots into marketing, I can stop wondering what the future has in store for us!
